Terry Wilson – Executive Director

Meet the New Executive Director

The Board of ECS Ministries announced, in 2016, that Terry Wilson had been appointed to the role of Executive Director of ECS Ministries, following Rob Tyler’s retirement.

Terry grew up in a missionary family. His grandfather, T. Ernest Wilson, served in Angola for over 40 years, and his father, Tom Wilson, was a missionary in Zimbabwe until 1980. Growing up in the assemblies, Terry heard the gospel many times. Yet it wasn’t until he was twelve years old (at an assembly gospel meeting) that he was convicted of his personal need for Christ’s grace and atonement. He gratefully placed his complete faith in Christ for salvation.

Since that time, Terry has pursued a life of spiritual growth and service to his Lord and Master. As a teenager, Terry completed his first Emmaus Correspondence course. In his college years, he volunteered to help the local Regional Coordinator by stuffing envelopes, filing transcripts, or whatever else needed to be done.

On into adulthood, Terry participated in various ministries in and around the assemblies. He led youth groups and taught Sunday School and Bible School. In April 1979, Terry and Shirley were married in Harare, Zimbabwe, and over the next decade or so, their four children were born there.

Terry brings to ECS over 25 years of experience in the printing and publishing world, including seven years with Loizeaux Brothers as their National Sales Manager. In 1999, Terry and family moved out to California to manage four print-sales offices in the Silicon Valley area. During these years, Terry helped establish Tracy Bible Chapel and served as an elder there. He also represented their assembly on the Bay Area Christian Missionary Service board, where he helped plan various missionary conferences and administer financial accounts. As each of the Wilson’s four children completed their high school studies, they then proceeded to attend and graduate from Emmaus Bible College.

In 2009, Terry and Shirley were commended to the Lord’s work at Camp Li-Lo-Li by Fifth Avenue Chapel, Belmar NJ, and later by three assemblies in New York. Terry has been serving there as the full-time camp administrator—promoting evangelism and discipleship among the workers and campers. Additionally, he has helped to develop and articulate the camp's vision while creating new strategies for the growth of camp programs and facilities.

In recent years, the Lord has put Colossians 1:10 on Terry’s heart as the aspiration and expectation of his walk with Christ: “That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Since 2007, Terry has served on the board of ECS Ministries, the last four years as chairman. In this capacity, Terry has worked closely with Rob Tyler in providing practical guidance and helping establish future direction for the ministry.

God has used all these elements of Terry’s background and experience to prepare him to lead ECS Ministries into its next chapter. Terry is excited to see how God will continue to use ECS in taking the Word to the World, and he and the ECS Ministries board covet your prayers for all that’s involved, especially during this time of transition.

Reflecting on the future of ECS Ministries, Terry says, “This work has a tremendous history and an incredible reach within North America and around the world. The full impact of the ministry may never be fully known here on earth. Yet as we look to the future, I am more convinced than ever of the value and relevance of this ministry and pray that the Lord will continue to help us be a practical resource to assemblies, evangelical churches, and to students of the Word of God wherever they are.”
