Our name comes from Luke 24, where Jesus meets the disciples on the road to Emmaus right after he rose from the dead. After revealing the truth about Jesus shown in all of God’s Word, the disciples’ eyes were opened and their hearts burned with passion, so much so they immediately had to run out and tell others. We want this for every one of our students—for their eyes to be opened to God’s Word, for their hearts to burn with passion for Jesus Christ, and for their lives to be replicated through discipleship.
Through most of our 75 years, we’ve been known as Emmaus Correspondence School, as nearly 100% of our ministry was through Emmaus Correspondence Courses. As we continued to grow and respond to God’s leading, it became clear that the words “Correspondence” and “School” no longer defined every aspect of our ministry.
In the summer of 2017, our team spent time brainstorming and praying over this important process. Many names were considered. But as we reflected on our historic identity, and the incredible impact of God’s work around the world through the courses, it became clear.
Our story is Emmaus. Our impact is international. We are Emmaus International.
It’s really who we are today. This name is already opening new opportunities for God’s work to expand, both in North America and across the world.
Our new logo tells the same story as our name.
The circle shape represents a globe, recognizing the significant worldwide impact of our courses over the 75 years of our existence. Emmaus Courses are used in over 100 countries on 6 continents, and our courses are translated into 80+ languages, from Arabic to Zulu.
Through the circle runs the Emmaus Road, connecting us to our historic identity, and also symbolizing our desire for all who study with us to have the same experience as the disciples on the road to Emmaus—eyes opened, with burning hearts.
Green represents the concept of growth and new life; our goal is to connect the Bible to your daily walk in order to produce growth in your life. Blue represents trustworthiness and dependability, referencing the ministries and individuals who've relied on our courses for 75 years. The colors also reinforce the globe concept (blue = ocean, green = land).
The new Emmaus International logo is simple and iconic, and we are looking for this logo to serve us well for years to come.
What happened to the Map Marker Logo?
In early 2017, we released the Map Marker Logo (pictured). At that point, we had decided to move away from the name ECS Ministries, but were still working through several name ideas. In the interim, we returned to the name Emmaus Correspondence School, as most around the world knew us by that name. In conjunction, we launched the Map Marker Logo, and were planning to add our new name to that logo when we finished the renaming process.
As we interfaced with our coordinators in South and Central America, we discovered the logo was not received well in their culture, and that the map marker “V” shape hinted at symbolism that could hinder their work with Emmaus courses. We took their concerns seriously, and have replaced that “V” logo shape with the globe in our new Emmaus International logo. We are thankful for our coordinators and workers who adopted our logo quickly; we so appreciate your strong support and willingness to join us in adopting our new, solidified brand identity.
Below you will find the various applications and versions of the Emmaus International logo. If you have a specific question or need regarding our logo, you can reach out to our Director of Publications & Communications (Jesse Fullan) at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you wish to have the Emmaus International logo reformatted for your international ministry (e.g. Emmaus Colombia, Emmaus India, etc.), please contact Jesse.

Our color palette is a strong part of our brand identity. Blue and Green (values below) serve as our primary colors, with yellow and white serving as accent colors.

With our new logo comes established font styles for promotional content. These styles help maintain a consistent visual identity across all Emmaus International materials.
League Gothic is a classic bold titling font, which can be used as the title of a poster, the headline of an article, etc. To be used with all capital (uppercase) letters.
Montserrat is a striking font family inspired by the old posters and signs of the traditional city of Buenos Aires. To be used with all capital (uppercase) letters. The header font (Montserrat) should be used more frequently than the Titling Font (League Gothic), which should be saved for specific titles to which you want to draw attention.
A friendly font with open curves, Roboto serves as our paragraph font, to be used in general writing, website copy, etc.
