As we reflect on the past year, we look with wonder at what the Lord has accomplished in North America and around the world through this ministry. We also look forward with anticipation to how He might more effectively use us if we fully surrender to Him. During the past year we have prayed much about our role as a ministry in proclaiming the gospel and encouraging all believers to become active disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Called to Be Disciples

Every week we are delighted to receive written testimonies of those who came to know Christ by studying the Bible with the help of an Emmaus Course. We read many more of those who are growing in their faith and obedience to God which is the heart of discipleship. Discipleship is much more than just acquiring more Bible knowledge. This is important, but living for Christ and following after Him is the evidence of new life in Christ. In this issue you will read more about our new discipleship initiative that helps take that Bible knowledge and apply it to living for Christ.

Please Pray With Us

We have been called to be disciples of Christ and so we are compelled to look at our lives as He does. I am reminded of the story of the woman in Matthew 26: “A woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘Why this waste?’” This woman was praised by the Lord because her priorities were right. A famous Bible teacher once said, “The world asks, ‘What does a man own?’ Christ asks, ‘How does he use it?’” That involves our time, our talents, our resources, and our hearts. Pray that the Lord would help us evaluate our priorities in life. Here are a number of areas that we are praying for each week:

Prison Ministry– Our courses are used in over 3000 institutions around the country and many more around the world. Please pray for the saved and unsaved in prison. Pray with us for more volunteers to grade and provide feedback to the prisoners, as well as for help getting more courses into the prisons.

International Ministry– We are grateful for the many national workers the Lord is raising up to take on this work in some of the poorest and most troubled countries in the world and would ask that you pray with us to see these efforts continue. Often when the missionaries transfer the work to nationals, the financial support to that work declines as well.

Life in Truth (L.I.T.) Discipleship– We have a burden for the local church in North America. There is much to discourage us as small churches see their numbers decline and doors close. But we also see great things happening when believers, young and old, commit themselves to becoming true disciples of Christ. We hope to partner with churches that share our burden for discipleship.

We thank you for your prayers and support. If any want more information about any of these prayer requests, please visit our website EmmausInternational.com or contact me directly at 563-235-6552 or at twilson @ EmmausInternational.com.
